What skills will students learn?Students will learn how to conduct both primary and secondary research in an effort to address a particular topic and research question. As part of the secondary research process, students will learn how to select and define a topic, locate source material, record notes, and assemble a conclusion paper. While working through the primary research process, students will learn how to state a research question, state a hypothesis, determine the appropriate research design, collect data, analyze data, write a conclusion, and present their findings.
Students will also learn advanced technology skills to assist them in the research process. These skills will include locating and evaluating online sources, analyzing data in GoogleSheets, GoogleForms, and presenting findings in GoogleSlides or a GoogleSites.. |

How will students demonstrate their understanding of the primary and secondary research process?
At the beginning of this course, students will participate in research activities that acquaint them with each aspect of the research process. After participating in the modeled activities, the students will conduct their own original research investigations to develop authentic solutions to real-world problems. The culmination of their year’s research will be showcased at the Enrichment Fair.
